A series of five new works by Angela Smith is currently on show at the Modern Artists Gallery, Berkshire. Shapes and images form on the canvas and Smith manipulates them to explore suppressed emotions and hint at tensions beneath the surface. The simplicity of the colours and the boldness of the paint combine to create extraordinary and remarkable images which are like no other. The quality and distinctiveness of these canvases was recognised at last year's Discerning Eye show at the Mall Galleries in London where Smith was awarded the prestigious Parker Harris prize.

For the first time at Modern Artists Gallery Diane Griffin draws together her established and well known sculptural work with a series of paintings, a striking new departure for this artist.
