Justine Holt
Justine Holt's new series of work is a suggestion and understatement of imagery. Very pure, very delicate images dropped into an expanse of creamy gesso. Wooden frames painted with Farrow and Ball Old White emulsion. The perfect match for a Farrow and Ball Kitchen or Hall.
(Gesso
is a carefully prepared mixture of rabbit-skin glue and chalk, heated
with water and applied in several coats. Once dry and finely sanded the
gesso gives a smooth white surface on which to lay paint.
Applying layers of colour onto a gesso ground enables light to reflect
back from the whiteness of the surface to give a luminous quality. It
is the traditional ground used for painting icons)
These beautiful paintings, work very well with most Farrow and Ball colours.
