Oxfordshire artist Kate Kessling received a celebrity guest in to her studio on 12th February when Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen visited her to find inspiration for his new ITV program 'House Gift'. He was not disappointed by what he discovered and recommended one of her limited edition prints 'All Things Bright' as the perfect gift under £500 to his viewers. Modern Artists Gallery, Berkshire, who represent Kate, reported a huge interest in the picture with a great number of telephone enquiries and over 8,000 hits on their website that day alone! Kate graduated from Goldsmiths College in the late 1980's and her work has evolved from a background in Fine Art and Textiles to her current output which centres around highly detailed 'portraits' of Buttons. 'All Things Bright' is a typical example of this technique which she has interspersed with delicate pastries and tasty morsels, and if you look very closely, a guinea pig! Modern Artists Gallery confirm that they still have a small number of these highly desirable prints left.

The success of another regular exhibitor at Modern Artists Gallery's is established by an important retrospective at the Prema Arts Centre, Gloucestershire. Lucy Orchard's work will be presented in a retrospective from 1st March – 10th April. The acknowledgement of the artist's achievements is well deserved as her reputation has gained considerable momentum since gaining her Masters from University of Cumbria in 2003.   She has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in the UK and her work is sought after by collectors and is featured in both UK and International collections. With echoes of the Old Masters and ancestry combined with a subversive twist these large oil paintings would not look out of place in a museum collection. Her work can be viewed at www.modernartistsgallery.com and can be purchased through the gallery.

The continued appeal for vintage 'kitsch' is catered for at Modern Artists Gallery by a new collection of works by the ever popular Fletcher Prentice. His compositions of budgies and parrots are featured in bright and cheerful hues with dashes of vintage wallpaper and fabrics. These light and lively paintings are utterly charming and extremely collectible starting from only £200.

Sculpture enthusiasts are in for a treat as Steve Lewis has this week delivered the first cast of his new piece 'Helm'. Modelled and carved in plaster this larger-than-life study of a man's head stands over a metre tall. With his work featuring in a number of prestigious collections, including the NatWest Bank Art Collection and the Eton College collection, this is an opportunity to glimpse his work in more intimate surroundings and take time to appreciate the highly worked surface area and subtle colouring.

Customers of Modern Artists Gallery also have the luxury of purchasing through the Own Art scheme which allows the buyer to pay interest free over a ten-month period.
