MODERN ARTISTS GALLERY NEWSLETTER * * * MAG RAG - AUGUST 2010 * * *A series of five new works by Angela Smith is currently on show at the Modern Artists Gallery Berkshire. Through the apparently liquid layers of paint the artist has created a series of very beautiful and emotionally charged abstracted canvases. The quality and distinctiveness of the artist's work was recognised at last year's Discerning Eye show at the Mall Galleries in London where Smith was awarded the prestigious Parker Harris prize.
Kathryn Thomas will be returning to the Modern Artists Gallery later this year with an exciting new show which will run in conjunction with her London show Lightyears Above 2010. In the meantime, the Modern Artists Gallery has three of her ethereal works on show during August. Kathryn Thomas has established her reputation with
richly coloured oil paintings inspired by the meeting of land, sea and
sky. Her work builds layer upon layer, giving it depth and translucency
and as a result her work is best experienced in it's original state.
The gallery continues to showcase new work by Sue Bartlett and this month features a new range of her colourful and distinct mixed media canvases with prices starting from just £350. WALKERS, CHILDREN AND DOGS WELCOME – As the weather improves, please remember the Modern Artists Gallery in Whitchurch on Thames Berkshire is featured in the Time Out Guide to UK walks. The gallery is situated in the picturesque Thames village and welcomes all walkers, dogs and children. There is a boot scrape by the front door, a regularly replenished dog bowl and there are usually some children's toys lying around to occupy the younger art enthusiasts. All work is available to view during August but
