Fletcher Prentice
My artistic tradition and passion
lie in fine art painting. Whilst pursuing a successful freelance design
career, I have remained committed to painting. I am currently
increasing my exhibition base.
When
I paint I constantly strive to balance on the one hand my fascination
with the object - using paint and enjoying the qualities of paint,
breaking down and semi-abstracting the subject matter and surface - and
on the other hand my desire to retain and capture the natural beauty of
the subject, whether the human figure, an animal or a single pear.
Freelance Design Career
I am a successful freelance surface designer in a business that I set
up in 1991. I work in many disciplines - hand-painting bone china,
designing greetings cards and textiles and developing ideas for
production.
My
long term design associations include Cosmo Place Studio/Northington
China Company, London; and Anne Davison, a childrens wear designer.
Other clients include the General Trading Company, Liberty, Cole and
Mason, LSA and J Salisbury. Illustration commissions include Gay Men's
Press, KinoDesign and Euromoney Publications.
