Kathryn Thomas Out of this World 2011 at The Modern Artists Gallery Berkshire
With this recent series Kathryn Thomas has extended the boundaries from her traditional and highly popular skyscapes into the representation of the elements and the universe.
The result is an exhilarating display of evocative and emotionally charged oil paintings.
Kathryn Thomas established her reputation with richly coloured oil paintings inspired by the meeting of land, sea and sky, building each painting layer by layerusing Michael Harding oils, painted on to linen. Giving depth and translucency the colour and tones change with each view. Paintings that demand time and yet stand outside it .
Work that must be experienced in their original state, as reproduced images just cannot capture the purity and majesty of the colour and content.
POLLOCK-KRASNER FOUNDATION INC OF NEW YORK AWARD
The prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation of New York awarded a year long working grant to one of our leading artist's Kathryn Thomas.
The Foundation was established in 1985 to assist individual working artists of merit through the generosity of Lee Krasner (1908-1984) a leading abstract expressionist painter and widow of Jackson Pollock.
