"My Paintings begin life as a photograph taken in my studio. I select successful images to paint on canvas, increasing the scale and creating a far more physical presence than the initial photo can possibly achieve. My subjects vary, however I always approach them in the same way.
"The subject of toys provides me with a vast spectrum of endless colour and humour, where l can suggest narratives, and continually devise new spatial and colour relationships.
"Similarly the flowers enable me to explore intense and vibrant colour. Focus and blur are key elements, and using these tools l render the illusion of three dimensionality in paint."
With a variety of themes, from landscape to portraiture and a playful interpretation of miniature plastic figures and toys, Sarah Graham’s work has wide appeal.
